Who is Larry Bird?
Larry Bird was born in a small town near French Lick, Indiana in 1956.
He played on his high school team at Springs Valley High School and set the all-time scoring record there
Bird obtained a scholarship to Indiana University and was going to play for Bob Knight. But, he withdrew last second and attended Indiana State University.
At Indiana State Univesity, he led his team to the NCAA Championship. But, they lost to the Michigan Spartans led by none other than Magic Johnson. Bird ended up winning many awards in his college career such as the Naismith and the Wooden awards.
Bird got selected by the Boston Celtics as the 6th pick.
Bird finished with 21 points per game and 10 rebounds
In his second year, the Boston Celtics made some amazing off-season moves
They drafted Kevin Mchale and were able to get Robert Parrish from the Golden State Warriors
That year, the Celtics were unstoppable and even won the championship
During the course of his career, Bird won many championships.
He also won an MVP award in 1990.
The Celtics made the playoffs every year Bird was on the team and he had an amazing career
