Who is Larry Bird?

Larry Bird was born in a small town near French Lick, Indiana in 1956.

He played on his high school team at Springs Valley High School and set the all-time scoring record there

Bird obtained a scholarship to Indiana University and was going to play for Bob Knight. But, he withdrew last second and attended Indiana State University.

At Indiana State Univesity, he led his team to the NCAA Championship. But, they lost to the Michigan Spartans led by none other than Magic Johnson. Bird ended up winning many awards in his college career such as the Naismith and the Wooden awards.

Bird got selected by the Boston Celtics as the 6th pick.

Bird finished with 21 points per game and 10 rebounds

In his second year, the Boston Celtics made some amazing off-season moves

They drafted Kevin Mchale and were able to get Robert Parrish from the Golden State Warriors

That year, the Celtics were unstoppable and even won the championship

During the course of his career, Bird won many championships.

He also won an MVP award in 1990.

The Celtics made the playoffs every year Bird was on the team and he had an amazing career

Why are his cards so valuable?

Larry Bird is one of the best basketball players of all time.

He was an amazing sharpshooter who was almost unstoppable

Bird was even given the nickname Larry Legend

Bird’s cards got made before junk wax era and are starting to gain some value

This is Larry Bird’s first card by himself

It has a nice design and has a green border

Definitely a cool card to have in your collection

1983-84 Star Company Larry Bird #26 SP

This is a cool short print Larry Bird card

It has a beautiful green design

I have not seen a lot of these cards

This card depicts him shooting

1986-87 Fleer Larry Bird #9

This card is from an iconic set

Bird is bringing the ball down the floor

The red, white, and blue border is patriotic and looks amazing

1986-87 Fleer Sticker Larry Bird #2

This card is from the sticker part of the 86 fleer set

It’s a sticker card because it peels off the actual card

The card is worth more if it has the sticker

1993-94 Finest Larry Bird #2

This card has lots of colors and a cool design

It got crafted during the junk wax era, but the refractor is worth a lot of money

Larry Bird’s cards aren’t too expensive, but they are definitely on the rise.

Bird is one of the best players in NBA history

 

Alongside Magic Johnson, he helped revitalize the league from its decrepit state.
